Personal Development

Personal development and having a growth mindset has long been in my top personal core values. I can’t help but find the learning opportunities anywhere I look.

We live in a day and age where burnout is expected. The average employee’s tenure with a company is less than 5 years (and falling). Intentionally focusing on all types of growth is a must.

Your personal growth gives you transferable soft skills that are in high demand across jobs and industries. And, let’s be honest, isn’t it just fun to learn new things?!

I believe that looking at personal and professional development together is essential when looking at development goals for work. Many companies recognize this and include development goals in annual reviews and employee recognition.

Self development and life goals all tie together to ensure that continuing professional development includes personal growth.

I listen to podcasts while I’m driving – and doing the dishes – and sometimes while I’m working. (Well, except when…

What’s holding you back?

BySarah Parsons April 23, 2015February 18, 2018

A few months ago, I did a Minimalism Challenge with a group of friends. It was a great way to stay on top of doing a little each day and making forward progress with small blocks of time. It also highlighted a few of my own weaknesses when it comes to many goal-oriented projects and tasks. The…

How to best use your “fringe hours”

BySarah Parsons February 22, 2015July 13, 2018

Released in 2015, The Fringe Hours* by Jessica Turner is a refreshing quick read. Jessica takes a no-nonsense approach with the mentality that of course you should take care of yourself. She also advocates that there is plenty of time in the day for all of us to practice self-care – in the fringe hours. As…
